Highlights

Teal blue - and it is teal, not navy

A deep blue-green shell with tonal trim and bright orange telescopic handles. We have called it teal rather than blue because the six-piece navy set on this site is a genuinely different colour and a different design, and we would rather you got the one you meant.

Two cases, one big one small

A check-in case and a cabin-size case that nests inside it for storage.

Front zip compartment

A full-width recessed panel on the face - laptop, documents, anything you want without opening the case.

Twin-wheel spinner castors

Two discs per castor. Effortless across a terminal floor.

Orange trolley handles

You will spot these on a carousel from the other end of the hall.

Product description

About this product

A two-piece hardshell set in teal – a deep blue-green that is noticeably greener than navy. One large check-in case, one cabin-size case, both upright trolleys on four twin-wheel spinner castors, with the small case nesting inside the large one for storage.
A word on the colour, because we have two blue luggage sets and they are not the same thing. This one is glossy, plain-shelled, teal, with tonal trim and orange handle tubes. The six-piece set listed as blue is matte navy with an embossed grid pattern and tan trim, and includes vanity cases. Different design, different range – check the photographs rather than the colour name.
The face of each case carries a large recessed zipped panel, so a laptop or a folder comes out without laying the case flat. The orange handle tubes pop hard against the teal, which makes the case easy to pick out on a carousel.
We do not yet have confirmed dimensions from the supplier, so we will not tell you the small case is cabin-legal – ask us for the measured size before buying for a specific flight. No integrated lock is visible in our photographs either, so plan on a separate padlock or strap.

Questions

Good to know

Do you deliver in Dar es Salaam?

Yes. We deliver across Dar es Salaam and ship countrywide to Arusha, Mwanza, Dodoma, Mbeya, Zanzibar and the rest of Tanzania. Luggage is bulky, so come and see it at the shop if you would rather judge the size in person.

What are the exact dimensions?

We are confirming them with the supplier and will publish them as soon as we have them in writing. We are not going to estimate case sizes from a photograph, because the difference between a 55 cm cabin case and a 56 cm one is the difference between boarding with it and paying at the gate.

Will the small case count as cabin baggage?

Until we have confirmed dimensions we cannot promise that. Most carriers out of Julius Nyerere allow around 55 x 40 x 20 cm, but Emirates, Qatar, Turkish, KLM, Kenya Airways and Precision all differ, and some cap weight at 7 kg regardless of size. Check your airline and ask us for the measured size before you buy for a specific flight.

Are four spinner wheels right for Tanzania?

Four wheels are effortless on smooth floors - terminals, hotel lobbies, malls. They are worse than two on broken pavement, sand or a murram road, because all four take the impact and the castors sit exposed. If most of your travel ends on rough ground, drag it on two wheels tilted back and save the castors.

Hardshell or soft - which is better here?

A hardshell keeps dust out, which matters on upcountry roads, and it shrugs off rain on a trolley in the open. The trade is that a hardshell cracks where a soft bag would tear and can be stitched. Neither is stronger overall; they fail differently.

Does it have a built-in TSA lock?

Not visible in our photographs, and we will not claim one we cannot see. Treat it as unlocked and use a separate padlock or strap through the zip pulls - we sell both.

Who makes it?

The case carries a small nameplate that we cannot read at the resolution we have, and the supplier has not given us a manufacturer name. Rather than invent one, we are selling it on what it demonstrably is. We will name the maker once we can evidence it.

Will it survive coastal humidity?

The shell will. What suffers is anything stored inside it - pack it dry, and never put it away in a closed room with damp clothes in it. Wipe the shell down after coastal trips; salt sits on the castor bearings and stiffens them.
