This is Naturehike’s Star Jane L01, model CNK2300JU010, in size S – the compact one. The top is a run of 6063 aluminium slats linked edge to edge, so instead of folding on a hinge it rolls up like a bamboo mat. Open it is 57 x 60 cm at 44 cm high; rolled it is a 76.5 x 19.5 x 9.5 cm bundle weighing 3 kg.
It suits one or two people: a couple eating, or a solo setup where the table carries the stove, the kettle and a plate. At 44 cm it sits at the right height for standard camp chairs, unlike the low ultralight tables.
Setting up takes under a minute. Spread the X-legs, unroll the top across them, let it settle into the frame. There is nothing to screw together and nothing loose to lose in the dark.
The slatted aluminium is the part that earns its keep in the rain: water and crumbs fall straight through instead of pooling, it dries immediately, and there is no board to warp or swell. Finished in wood-grain khaki, carry bag included.
