Product description

About this product

The CORE Mesh Quad Chair is the classic folding camp chair with the one change that matters in this climate: a nylon mesh back that lets the breeze through instead of holding heat against you. The seat and arms stay solid polyester, so it still feels like a proper chair rather than a hammock.

A 16 mm powder-coated steel frame carries up to 300 lbs (136 kg), and dual mesh cup holders on the armrests take a drink on each side — or a drink and a phone. It collapses to a slim bundle and travels in the included carry bag with a shoulder strap.

Questions

Good to know

How is this different from a normal folding camp chair?

Only the back panel. Instead of solid fabric it uses nylon mesh, so heat and moisture pass through rather than building up behind you. Everything else is the familiar quad-chair shape, and it folds the same way.

How much weight does it hold?

CORE rates the frame at 300 lbs (136 kg) seated on level ground.

How low does it sit?

The seat is 17.5 in (44 cm) from the ground, which is a relaxed, slightly reclined position. If you want a higher, more upright seat that is easier to stand up from, look at the CORE Mesh Hard Arm Chair instead.

Is it heavy to carry?

It weighs 9.74 lbs (4.4 kg) and folds into a 19 x 19 x 99 cm bag with a shoulder strap - easy to walk to the beach or the sidelines with one in each hand.

How do I look after it in a coastal climate?

Rinse salt and sand off the frame with fresh water, wipe the fabric with mild soap, and let it dry fully open before packing. Storing it damp in the bag is what causes mildew and rust at the joints.

Can it stay outside in the sun all season?

Better not. The fabric and coating handle plenty of sun, but months of direct UV will fade and weaken any polyester. Fold it into the bag or keep it under cover between uses.

What are the overall open dimensions?

CORE publishes the seat as 19.25 x 25.75 in and the seat height as 17.5 in. The overall figure on their spec sheet does not match that seat height, so we have left it out rather than quote a number we cannot stand behind. Ask us and we will measure the chair in the shop.
