Highlights

A proper boat, at the price of a good chair

Three air chambers, an inflatable floor, real oarlocks and bright orange fabric. Small, but built like a boat rather than a toy.

Three air chambers

A puncture in one leaves two holding the boat up. This is the line between a boat and a pool toy, and this one is on the right side of it.

Bright orange

Visible from a long way off, which on water is a safety feature rather than a colour choice.

Real oarlocks

Sturdy moulded oarlocks and clamps take a proper pair of oars, so you can row it rather than paddle it with your hands.

Foot pump included

Both 124 cm oars, the foot pump and a repair patch come in the box.

Product description

About this product

Inflatable Boat Set – in stock at 361 Degrees Adventure in Tanzania.

This is the smallest real boat in the range – 196 cm long and 106 cm wide, rated to 120 kg, which Bestway describe as one adult and one child. It is not a boat for distance or for open water. It is a boat for pottering about a lagoon, getting out to a mooring, fishing a creek, or letting a child learn to row somewhere sheltered and shallow.

What matters is that it is built like a boat and not like a toy. There are three separate air chambers plus a safety valve, so a puncture in one does not put you in the water. The floor is inflatable, which gives it shape and keeps you off the wet. The oarlocks are moulded into the tubes with clamps that hold a pair of 124 cm three-piece oars properly, so it rows rather than drifts. And there is a grab rope all the way round and a carry handle.

The bright orange fabric is deliberate. On water, being seen is most of staying safe, and a small orange boat is visible at a distance where a grey or blue one is not.

It suits sheltered creeks, lagoons and calm lake edges around Dar es Salaam, Bagamoyo and Kigamboni. Everyone aboard should wear a buoyancy aid. Do not take it outside sheltered water, do not overload it, and keep well clear of any offshore wind – a boat this light is moved by wind more than by anything else.

Buying a Inflatable Boat Set in Tanzania

361 Degrees Adventure keeps the inflatable boat set at our showroom in Upanga, Dar es Salaam, with delivery countrywide across Tanzania. Come and handle it before you buy, or order online and collect.

Every inflatable boat set is checked in store before it leaves us, and our staff use the same kit in the field, so you get an honest answer on fit and sizing rather than a sales pitch.

Not sure which inflatable boat set suits you? Call or message the showroom and we will talk you through the options that are actually in stock in Dar es Salaam.

Spare parts and replacements for the inflatable boat set are easier to get here than on an overseas order, which matters once the gear is in use.

Questions

Good to know

How many people does it really take?

One adult and one child, to a total of 120 kg. That rating includes everything you put in the boat, not just the people. Do not treat it as a two-adult boat.

Is it safe for a child to use?

With an adult present and buoyancy aids on, in shallow sheltered water, it is a good boat to learn to row in. It should never be used by a child alone or anywhere with current, waves or boat traffic.

Does it come with a carry bag?

No. Bestway supply the boat, the oars, the foot pump and a repair patch. A bag is not part of this set - tell us and we will suggest something that fits.

Can I fish from it?

For a quiet creek or lagoon, yes, one person at a time. It has no rod holders and very little room, so if fishing is the main plan, our Voyager X3 or Ranger Elite rafts are a far better fit.

Can I fit a small motor?

No. There is no motor mount and the boat is not rated for one. For that, look at the Ranger Elite X3 or X4.

How long does it take to inflate?

Five minutes or so with the foot pump for all three chambers and the floor. Firm rather than rock hard.

How do I look after it in salt water?

Rinse it with fresh water after every sea trip, including the valve and the underside, and let it dry completely before rolling it up. Salt left to dry in the seams is what ages an inflatable fastest on this coast.

Can I leave it inflated in the sun?

Not for long. Equatorial sun degrades the material and raises the internal pressure, which stresses the seams. Let some air out if it is standing in full sun, and store it deflated, dry and out of direct light.
