QuestionsGood to know
Do you deliver in Dar es Salaam?
Yes. We deliver across Dar es Salaam and ship countrywide to Arusha, Mwanza, Dodoma, Mbeya, Zanzibar and the rest of Tanzania.
Will these pass airport security?
Containers of 100 ml or less, all together in one transparent resealable bag of about a litre, taken out separately at the screening point. That is the rule on every airline flying out of Julius Nyerere. Check the printed capacity on each bottle - a part-filled 200 ml bottle is still a 200 ml container and screeners will take it.
Will they leak in my bag?
Air pressure changes in an aircraft hold push liquid out of a bottle filled to the brim. Leave a couple of centimetres of air at the top, close the cap firmly, and put the bottles in a sealed pouch. That is what stops shampoo going through your clothes, not the bottle design.
Does the heat here affect them?
A car boot in Dar es Salaam gets far hotter than the air outside, and heat both thins liquids and raises pressure inside a closed bottle. Do not leave decanted toiletries in a parked car, and open one slowly if it has been in one.
Does humidity affect a sewing kit?
Steel needles and pins rust in coastal air, particularly stored in a closed case that was put away damp. Keep the case dry, and if the kit lives in a bag that gets wet, open it out and let it air.
How much is excess baggage out of Dar es Salaam?
It varies by airline and route, but it is always charged per kilogram at the desk and it is always more than you expect - frequently more than the item you are carrying is worth. Weighing at home is the entire point of a luggage scale.
How accurate is a hanging luggage scale?
Read the two numbers separately. Display resolution is how finely it reads - often 10 g. Accuracy is how close that reading is to the truth, and on a hanging scale it is realistically within a few hundred grams. That is ample for checking you are under 23 kg. Do not expect it to settle an argument over 50 g.
