Highlights

The one everybody actually carries

40 ounces of cold water, a handle, and a straw you do not have to lift the cup to use.

11 hours cold

Double-wall vacuum stainless steel, which is why the ice is still there in the afternoon.

40 oz, one fill

A litre and a bit, so a Dar working day is one fill rather than five trips to the cooler.

Handle and straw

Carry it by the handle, drink through the straw, without lifting a full litre to your mouth.

Cup holder base

The tapered base fits standard vehicle cup holders, which most large tumblers do not.

Product description

About this product

The Quencher earned its reputation the boring way: it holds a lot, it keeps cold things cold for most of a day, and the shape works. A tapered base fits a car cup holder, the handle means you are not gripping a wet litre of steel, and the rotating lid gives you a straw opening, a drinking opening and a closed position.

Construction is Stanley’s recycled stainless steel with double-wall vacuum insulation, rated for up to 11 hours cold, 7 hours hot, and about two days iced. It is dishwasher safe, which for a tumbler used every day matters more than it sounds.

Questions

Good to know

Does it really keep ice for two days?

Stanley rates it at up to two days iced, which holds up if the tumbler stays closed and out of direct sun. On a dashboard in Dar, expect a lot less. Pre-chilling the tumbler before you fill it makes a real difference.

Will it fit my car cup holder?

The base is tapered specifically for that, and it fits most. Very small holders in compact cars can still be tight, so bring the car if you want to be sure.

Is it leak proof if it falls over?

No, and this is the one thing to know. The straw opening is not sealed. It resists splashing in the closed position but it is not a bottle to put on its side in a bag.

Can I put hot tea or coffee in it?

Yes, up to about 7 hours of heat retention. Wash it properly afterwards, as coffee will taint a straw.

How do I clean the straw and the lid?

Take the lid apart, wash the gasket, and use a thin straw brush. This is the part people skip and then wonder why the tumbler smells.

Is it dishwasher safe?

Yes, including the lid and straw. That is a genuine advantage over most insulated tumblers.

What if the outside gets warm or it stops insulating?

That means the vacuum has failed, almost always after a hard drop that dented the inner wall. Steel tumblers survive a lot, but not everything.

How do I get rid of a taste?

Warm water with bicarbonate of soda, left to stand for an hour, then rinsed. Do not use bleach on stainless steel.
