Naturehike Village 6.0 Ground Sheet

Others

A brown ripstop Oxford footprint cut to the exact 260 x 230 cm floor of the Naturehike Village 6.0 cabin tent. It takes the grit, thorns and ground damp that would otherwise wear through the tent floor, and rolls down to 37 x 22 cm at 840 g.

Why put a sheet under a tent that already has a floor

A tent floor is the one panel you cannot replace. A footprint is the panel you can.

Cut to the tent

260 x 230 cm, the exact floor of the Village 6.0, so no edge sticks out to funnel rain underneath.

Doubles as a mat

Corner tabs let it peg down on its own as a picnic sheet, a kit mat or a dry patch outside the door.

PU 3,000 mm coating

Naturehike rates the coating at 3,000 mm, which is what keeps ground damp out of the tent floor.

840 g, packs to 37 x 22 cm

Rolls into its own bag and rides in the corner of the tent sack.

Product description

About this product

The Village 6.0 is a heavy instant cabin tent, and almost all the wear it will ever take happens on the underside of the floor: sand grinding against the coating, thorn stubs, hot gravel, and the slow damp that comes up through soil long after the rain has stopped. This ground sheet takes all of that instead.

It is cut to 260 x 230 cm, matching the Village 6.0 footprint exactly. That matters more than it sounds. A sheet that is bigger than the tent catches rain running off the fly and channels it under the floor, which is worse than no sheet at all. This one sits inside the tent line the way the manufacturer intended.

  • Reinforced corner tabs for pegging out when used on its own
  • Wipes clean and dries fast, so it can go back in the bag the same day
  • 840 g packed into a 37 x 22 cm roll

Who It Suits

Anyone running a Village 6.0 who camps on the coast, on murram, or on the gravel pitches at most Tanzanian campsites. It also earns its keep on its own as a groundsheet under a camp kitchen, a shaded mat at the beach, or a clean surface for sorting kit at the back of the vehicle.

Questions

Good to know

Will this fit a tent other than the Village 6.0?

It is cut to 260 x 230 cm, so it fits any tent with a floor of roughly that size, including the 4-person blackout and screen-porch versions of the Village. Under a smaller tent it will stick out and catch run-off, which does more harm than good. Fold the excess under if you use it that way.

My tent already has a sewn-in floor. Do I need this?

The tent floor is the part you cannot replace without replacing the tent. On sand, murram and gravel the underside abrades faster than anything else on the tent, and the coating is what fails first. A footprint is the cheap panel that takes that wear.

Does it keep the tent cooler?

A little, on hot ground. It puts a second air layer between the soil and the floor, which helps most in the middle of the afternoon at low-altitude sites like Saadani or Mikumi. It is not a substitute for shade or ventilation.

Can I use it as a beach or picnic mat?

Yes, that is the second job most owners find for it. The corner tabs take pegs, so it will hold down on a breezy beach at Kigamboni or Bagamoyo.

How do I clean it after a coastal trip?

Rinse the salt and sand off with fresh water and let it dry flat in the shade. Do not scrub the coated side with a brush, and never machine wash it. Salt left in the fabric attracts damp and shortens the life of the coating.

How should I store it in Dar humidity?

Bone dry, always. A sheet rolled away damp will grow mildew inside a week here, and mildew eats the PU coating from the inside. If you had to pack it wet, open it out at home the same evening.

Which side goes up?

Either side works, but keep the same side down each trip so the abrasion stays on one face.

What if it gets a small cut?

A TPU repair patch or a strip of gear tape on the underside will hold it for years. We stock TPU repair tape for exactly this.
