Tee Off list it for irons, woods, putters, grips, balls, shoes, trolleys and bags – and removing dirt, grime, mud and scuff marks. That breadth is genuinely the appeal: one bottle in the bag covers everything rather than a cleaner for the clubs and something else for the shoes.
Where a dedicated cleaner earns its place over water is on the two jobs water does badly. Grips accumulate skin oils, sunscreen and sweat, and that film is what makes a grip feel slick long before the rubber is actually worn out – a cleaner lifts it, water largely does not. And scuff marks on shoes and bags are surface transfer rather than dirt; a cleaner shifts them.
On club faces, use it with a brush rather than alone. The cleaner loosens what is in the grooves, the bristles remove it.
