What tee length do I need?

It depends on the club. A modern large-headed driver wants the ball teed high, which needs a longer tee - 70 mm or 83 mm are the usual sizes. For irons and fairway woods a shorter tee, around 54 mm, is plenty. Many golfers carry both. Ask us what length this pack is and we will measure it.

Why do tees break?

Because they are supposed to. A tee absorbs energy on a heavy strike that would otherwise go into your wrists and your clubface. A tee that never broke would be a tee that transferred all of that shock to you.

Are wooden tees better than plastic?

For the environment, clearly. For durability, no - plastic lasts longer. Bamboo is the strongest of the biodegradable options because its long fibres resist splitting. Buying a hundred at a time makes the durability question largely irrelevant.

How high should I tee the ball?

For a driver, so that roughly half the ball sits above the crown of the clubhead at address. For a fairway wood, just above the grass. For an iron off a tee, barely proud of the ground. Teeing too low with a driver is the commonest fault and produces a low, spinning, short drive.

Do tees make a difference to distance?

The height does. Teeing the ball high with a driver promotes an upward strike, which launches higher with less spin and carries further. The tee material makes no meaningful difference to the shot.
