MSLON Patella Strap - Adjustable Knee Tendon Band

Body Support

A narrow adjustable strap worn just below the kneecap. It works by a completely different mechanism to a knee sleeve: it presses on the patellar tendon and changes how load passes through it.

Highlights

Not a smaller knee sleeve

A patella strap and a knee sleeve solve different problems. A sleeve compresses the whole joint for general comfort. A strap presses on one spot - the patellar tendon below the kneecap - to redistribute the pull across it. If your pain is a sharp point just below the kneecap, the strap is the one you want.

Targeted pressure

A narrow band over the patellar tendon, not general compression around the joint.

Adjustable

Tighten to the point where it changes the pain, which is different from tightening as hard as possible.

Low profile

Wears under trousers or a kit and does not restrict the knee bending.

For jumper-s knee

Patellar tendinopathy, runner-s knee and Osgood-Schlatter in growing children.

About this product

Mslon Patella Brace – in stock at 361 Degrees Adventure in Tanzania.

A patella strap is a narrow band worn across the tendon just below the kneecap, and it is worth understanding that it is not a small knee sleeve. It works by a different mechanism entirely.

A knee sleeve applies compression around the whole joint for general comfort and feedback. A patella strap applies firm pressure at one point on the patellar tendon. The effect is to change how the pull of the thigh muscle is distributed through that tendon – taking load off the painful section. People who have the right problem often notice the difference within a few steps, which is unusual for any support.

The right problem is pain at a specific point just below the kneecap, worse when jumping, running downhill or coming down stairs. That is patellar tendinopathy – jumper-s knee. In growing children and teenagers, pain and a bony lump at the top of the shin bone just below the knee is Osgood-Schlatter, which is a growth-related irritation where the tendon attaches; a strap is commonly used for symptom relief there too. If your pain is diffuse, around or under the kneecap rather than below it, a sleeve is likely to suit you better.

Fit it just below the kneecap, over the tendon, and tighten it until it feels firm and the pain changes – not as tight as it will go. Too tight is uncomfortable and no more effective.

As with every support, it manages symptoms. Tendon problems resolve with progressive loading under guidance, not with a band. A teenager with Osgood-Schlatter, or anyone whose knee pain has lasted more than a few weeks, should be seen by a physiotherapist or doctor.

Questions

Good to know

Strap or sleeve - which do I need?

Strap if your pain is a specific point just below the kneecap, worse jumping or going downstairs. Sleeve if the ache is more general, around or under the kneecap. They work by different mechanisms and the wrong one does very little.

Where exactly does it go?

Just below the kneecap, across the tendon - not on the kneecap itself and not down on the shin. Bend the knee slightly to find the tendon, then fit the strap over it and tighten until it feels firm and the pain changes.

How tight should it be?

Firm, not maximum. The point is to press on the tendon, not to restrict the leg. If your lower leg tingles or feels cold, it is far too tight. Tighter is not more effective.

Is it suitable for a child with Osgood-Schlatter?

Straps are commonly used for symptom relief in Osgood-Schlatter, which is a growth-related irritation where the tendon attaches to the shin. It is not a treatment - the condition settles as growth finishes, and a child with it should be seen by a doctor or physiotherapist to manage activity levels sensibly.

Will a support fix an injury?

No. A support manages symptoms - it adds compression, warmth and a constant reminder of where the joint is, and for some conditions it redistributes load away from a sore tendon. It does not repair tissue and it does not address why the injury happened. Persistent pain, swelling that will not settle, or a joint that gives way needs a doctor or a physiotherapist, not a longer-lasting brace.

How long should I wear it each day?

During the activity that provokes the symptoms, and not much beyond it. Wearing a support all day every day lets the muscles around the joint do less work, and weaker muscles mean a less stable joint over time. Use it to keep training while you fix the underlying problem, not instead of fixing it.

How do I get the size right?

Measure the limb rather than guessing from your clothing size, and measure where the support will actually sit. Tell us the measurement and we will match it to the stock. A support one size too big does nothing at all, and one size too small restricts circulation.

How do I wash it in this climate?

Hand wash in cool water with a little mild soap, rinse well and dry flat in the shade - never in a machine on hot, never in a tumble dryer, and never in direct sun. Neoprene and elastic both perish with heat. Wash it often: in Dar es Salaam humidity a support worn twice and left in a bag starts to smell within days.

Do you deliver in Dar es Salaam?

Yes. We deliver across Dar es Salaam and ship nationwide to Arusha, Mwanza, Dodoma, Zanzibar and beyond. You can also collect from our shop.
