Daiwa high-density carbon composite - lighter and stiffer than graphite, and immune to corrosion.

AirDrive rotor

A lightweight rotor design that reduces the mass you accelerate on every turn of the handle.

Product description

About this product

Daiwa Revros Cs Lt – in stock at 361 Degrees Adventure in Tanzania.

LT stands for Light and Tough, and it is Daiwa name for the platform that redesigned their spinning reels around lower weight – a smaller body, a lighter rotor and an aluminium spool that give a reel the capacity of one size up at the weight of one size down. The Revros is the value end of that range, and the reason it is worth attention is the body material.

Zaion V is Daiwa high-density carbon composite. It is lighter than the graphite used at this price, stiffer under load, and it cannot corrode – which matters more in Dar es Salaam than in most places. Finding it below the mid-range is unusual. Around it sit the AirDrive rotor, which cuts the mass you accelerate on every handle turn, the AirDrive bail, and a machined aluminium Air Spool.

The drag is ATD, Daiwa Automatic Tournament Drag, designed to overcome its own start-up friction smoothly rather than sticking and then letting go with a jerk – which is what breaks light leaders on the first run. Tough Digigear drives it, and the handle is machined aluminium, folding, and fully reversible for either hand.

The 4000-C is a 4000-size spool on a compact 3000 body, at 269 g, 5.2:1 and 83 cm per crank. It holds roughly 200 m of 10 lb braid.

One clarification. Daiwa product name is the Revros LT; the CS in some listings refers to clamshell retail packaging rather than a different reel. There is also no Magsealed on this model – that is reserved for Daiwa higher tiers – and no formal saltwater rating, so rinse it properly after sea use.

Questions

Good to know

Why is it called Revros CS in some listings?

Daiwa product name is the Revros LT. CS refers to clamshell retail packaging rather than a different reel - Daiwa US sell a REVLT4000-C-CP where CP means clam pack. The reel inside is the same. Ask us to confirm exactly what is in stock if it matters.

What does 4000-C mean?

A 4000-size spool on a Compact (3000-size) body - Daiwa C suffix works the same way as Shimano C prefix. You get 4000 capacity at 3000 weight. No further suffix means standard gearing; CH would be high gear and CXH extra-high.

What is ATD and why does it matter?

Automatic Tournament Drag. Every drag has to overcome its own start-up friction before it begins to slip, and a cheap drag does that with a jerk that breaks light leaders. ATD is designed to start smoothly and then hold a consistent pressure through the run.

Is Zaion V better than graphite?

Yes, for this purpose. It is a higher-density carbon composite: lighter, stiffer under load, and it cannot corrode. Having it on a reel at this price is the main argument for the Revros over its direct rivals.

Is it Magsealed?

No. Magseal - Daiwa magnetic oil barrier against water and dust - is reserved for their higher tiers. Do not let any listing suggest otherwise.

Is it a saltwater reel?

Daiwa publish no saltwater rating for it. The Zaion V body is corrosion-resistant, so it handles inshore use well with a proper fresh-water rinse, but it is not a sealed reel and not one for weekly offshore work.

What can I catch with it here?

Snapper, queenfish, barracuda, small trevally and kingfish inshore; catfish, tilapia and Nile perch on the lakes and rivers. The 4000 size is the most useful single reel size on this coast.

How do I look after it in salt water?

Rinse under a gentle spray of fresh water after every sea session, never a hard jet, then stand it upright to drain and dry. Back the drag off before storage, and oil the handle knob and bail pivot every few trips.
