The Infinite is Noeby saltwater line, and the argument for it is straightforward: at this price most reels have a graphite body and rotor, and this one has aluminium. That matters because drag pressure tries to twist a reel frame, and a frame that flexes lets the drive gear and pinion fall out of alignment – which is the moment a reel starts to feel rough and stops being smooth again.

Around that metal frame sit 8+1 anti-corrosion stainless bearings, a forged aluminium spool, an aluminium screw-in handle and Noeby CRC corrosion-resistant coating over a sealed gearbox. None of that is exotic; all of it is the right answer for a reel used in the sea.

The 3000 is the light end of the range, rated to 18 lb of drag at 5.2:1 gearing. On this coast that suits inshore lure fishing from a jetty, a creek mouth or the rocks – queenfish, barracuda, small trevally, snapper – and it is a capable freshwater reel for the lakes and rivers.

Why is the weight not listed exactly?

Noeby publish a range for the series (272 g to 532 g across all sizes) rather than a figure per size, and we are not willing to guess which is which. Ask us and we will put the reel on the scales in the shop before you buy.

How does it compare with a Shimano at the same price?

The Infinite gives you an aluminium body and rotor and 8+1 bearings, where a Shimano at this price gives you a graphite body, 3+1 bearings and better gear metallurgy plus proven long-term support. The Noeby is the more metal reel; the Shimano is the more refined one. Both are honest buys - it depends which you value.

Is it a genuine saltwater reel?

It is built for it: aluminium construction, CRC anti-corrosion coating, stainless bearings and a sealed gearbox. Noeby publish no IP water-resistance rating, so treat it as well-protected rather than sealed, and rinse it after every sea session.

What can I catch with a 3000 size here?
