About this product
The argument for a fishing vest is simple and it becomes obvious the first time you use one. Everything you actually reach for while fishing – pliers, line cutters, a leader spool, a small lure box, your phone – ends up on your chest, where you can find it one-handed without putting the rod down, opening a bag or bending over.
That matters most where there is nowhere to put a bag: standing in water, sitting in a kayak, or moving along rocks. It also matters on a boat, where a bag ends up under someone else feet within ten minutes.
This vest is made from a breathable, water-resistant polyester, so spray runs off and the fabric dries fast rather than soaking and staying heavy. The pockets are a mix of zipped and hook-and-loop – zips for the things you would hate to lose, hook-and-loop for the things you open constantly.
The fit adjusts at the shoulders and the sides, which lets you wear it over a t-shirt in the heat or over a jacket when it rains, and stops it swinging around when you cast.
It is a general-purpose vest rather than a buoyancy aid. It will not float you – if you need flotation, that is a life jacket, and we stock those separately.
