Product description

About this product

A six-person instant tent rated over 3000 mm on both the shell and the floor, packing into a 95 cm disc.

Quick-opening means there is no frame to build: the poles are sewn in, so the tent goes from bag to standing without threading anything. On a six-person tent that is the difference between a fifteen-minute job and a two-minute one.

What sets it apart from cheaper instant tents is the coating. Both the 210D polyester shell and the 210D floor are rated above 3000 mm, where most pop-ups sit at 2000 mm. That is a meaningful margin through the long rains, and it is matched by a proper fiberglass rod structure rather than thin springy wire.

Pitched it is 280 x 200 x 120 cm, which sleeps six at the industry rating and four comfortably. It weighs 3.6 kg and folds to a 95 cm round bag 10 cm thick.

Questions

Good to know

How quick is quick-opening?

The poles are sewn into the tent, so there is nothing to thread or assemble. Releasing it from the bag is most of the pitch. Pegging out a 280 cm footprint and running the guy ropes is what takes the remaining time, and on a tent this size it is not optional.

Is over 3000 mm actually better?

Yes, and noticeably. Most instant tents sit at 2000 mm, which copes with a shower. Above 3000 mm on both the shell and the floor is what lets a tent handle sustained heavy rain and wet ground underneath you.

Does it really sleep six?

Six adults fit on the 280 x 200 cm floor with bags outside. Four plus gear is the comfortable arrangement. At 120 cm you sit up and kneel, but do not stand.

How do I fold it back into the bag?

Practise once at home before the first trip. Collapse the frame, fold the tent in half so the two sides meet, then twist the top down and over itself so it drops into overlapping rings and lies flat in the 95 cm round bag.

Will the round bag fit in my car?

It is a 95 cm disc about 10 cm thick, so it lies flat across a boot or on a back seat rather than standing in a corner. Check that width before buying if your vehicle is small.

How does it cope with wind?

A large instant tent presents a lot of surface. Peg every point and use all the guy ropes. Sewn-in fiberglass is springy rather than rigid, so the guy lines are what actually hold the shape in a gust.

How do I look after it?

Shake sand out of the zip tracks before folding. Dry it fully before packing, and give a tent this size room to dry properly or it will mildew. Sponge with mild soap and cool water, never a machine wash.
