Most bags claim to be water resistant and leave you to guess what that means. This one carries an IPX6 rating, which is a defined standard: tested against powerful water jets from any direction. That is well beyond splash-proof – it covers driving rain, a wave over the bow and a hose – while stopping short of submersion, which no roll-top bag should be asked to do.
The construction is 70D plaid laminating cloth with polycool fibre, closed with a roll-top for the seal. What lifts it above a plain dry bag is the detailing. The chest buckle has an emergency whistle built into it, so the whistle is always with you rather than in another bag. There is a ventilated mesh back panel, which matters on a coated pack because nothing else about it breathes. And there is a front compartment and bottle pouches on both sides, so the things you need are reachable without breaking the seal.
A draw cord on the outside takes shoes, a wet mat or a jacket – the wet things that should never go in with the dry ones. The adjustable chest belt stabilises the load, which at 25 litres and 430 g it needs less than a heavy pack but still benefits from.
It opens out to 46 x 71 cm and packs flat to 40 x 36 x 0.8 cm when empty – flat enough to slide into a suitcase as a spare bag. It suits coastal trips, boats, fishing, the rainy season and travel.
