About this product
Waterproof bags usually make you choose. A dry bag seals properly but carries like a sack; a backpack carries properly but lets water in at the zips. This one is the version that does both – a roll-top seal in 70D nylon with a PVC coating, built onto a harness that a 25 litre load can actually live on.
The straps are the difference. They are wide and mesh-faced, so they spread the load and breathe rather than cutting in and trapping sweat, and there are chest and waist straps to stabilise the pack. On a coated bag, where nothing breathes, that harness is what makes the difference between wearing it for an hour and wearing it all day.
The roll-top closes the way every dry bag does: fold the top over on itself and clip the buckle, so there is no zip to fail. Storage outside the seal is well judged – bungee cords across the front for wet shoes or a jacket, and mesh pockets on both sides for bottles. Wet things stay outside, dry things stay in.
It measures 48 x 30 x 18 cm and weighs 430 g. It suits the rainy season, boat trips, fishing, kayaking and any walk where a river crossing or an afternoon storm is likely. Like all roll-tops, it is made to keep water out in rain and spray rather than to be submerged.
