This is the cheapest genuinely useful thing we sell, and it earns its place through sheer convenience. At 150 grams there is no reason not to have one. Unfolded it measures 30.5 x 16 x 42 cm and takes between 20 and 35 litres depending on how it is packed, closing with a zip and a hasp. The fabric is waterproof polyester, which sheds rain and wipes clean after a trip on a vehicle floor.

The back is shaped to a curve rather than being a flat sheet of fabric, which is what separates a bag that is comfortable when loaded from one that is merely light. On a bag at this price, that detail is not guaranteed, and it is the reason this one gets used.

How small does it fold?

Small enough to live in a suitcase corner, a glovebox or a handbag. It is the kind of thing you pack once and then forget until you need it.

Is it strong enough to actually use?

For a day bag load - shopping, a towel, a jacket, lunch - yes. It is a light packable bag, not a trekking pack, so avoid sharp items and heavy loads.
