Thirty litres is the point where a daypack becomes something more. It still carries like a daypack – the same ventilated back, the same 600 g – but it takes a light overnight kit, a full camera setup with a long lens, or a day’s worth of layers for weather that cannot make up its mind.
The shape is what makes it work. At 62 cm tall and 25 cm wide it is taller and narrower than the 25 litre version rather than simply bigger, so it carries close to your back and does not catch on vegetation on a narrow trail. Depth comes to 20 cm, which is where the extra volume lives.
The back panel is a ventilated mesh that holds the pack off your spine, and that remains the feature to care about most in this climate. Storage follows the same pattern as the smaller model: an expandable main compartment, a front pocket, bottle pouches on both sides, internal organiser pockets and small storage on the shoulder straps. There is an opening for a hydration tube and a hidden emergency whistle.
The fabric is polyamide fibre with polyethylene, water resistant against light rain and abrasion resistant in everyday use. It comes in brown, which is a finish that suits both the trail and a town without looking like either.
