Twenty-five litres is the daypack size that actually gets used every day. It holds a laptop or a camera, a rain shell, lunch, a water bottle and a jumper – which covers a day on a trail, a day in an office and the flight in between. At about 600 g it is light enough that you stop thinking about the bag itself.
The back panel is where a daypack is won or lost in this climate. This one is a ventilated mesh panel that holds the bag off your spine so air moves through, and in Dar es Salaam humidity that is the difference between arriving presentable and arriving with a soaked shirt. The shoulder straps are padded and ergonomic and the chest strap adjusts to stop the pack shifting when you move quickly.
Storage is thought through rather than merely present: a large main compartment that expands to take a bigger load, a front pocket for the things you reach for often, bottle pouches on both sides, organiser pockets inside and small storage on the shoulder straps themselves. There is a dedicated opening for a hydration tube and a hidden whistle built in.
The fabric is polyamide fibre with polyethylene – water resistant against light rain and splashes, abrasion resistant against the everyday scraping a bag takes. It measures 50 x 29 x 16 cm and Naturehike recommend loading it to no more than about 9 kg. It suits hiking, cycling, commuting, travel and daily use.
