A sling pack sits on your back while you walk and swings round to your chest when you need it, in one movement, without taking it off. That is the whole argument for the format, and on the water it is a strong one: you can open the bag, take out a lure box, change a lure and close it again without putting the rod down or bending over.
This one holds 5 litres across three layers, which is the right amount of organisation. One heap of tackle in one compartment is how people end up with a hook through a finger; separate layers keep boxes, tools and personal things apart.
The fabric is waterproof and stain resistant, which matters for two different reasons – spray keeps out, and fish slime and blood come off. The zipper is a YKK waterproof zip, which is worth noticing: on almost every cheap bag the zip fails long before the fabric does, and a bad zip that has seized with salt makes the whole bag useless.
