About this product
Anyone who fishes small lures runs into the same problem: the split rings are tiny, and ordinary fishing pliers cannot open them. The tapered tip is too thick to enter a 2 mm ring, so you end up trying with fingernails or a knife point, bending the ring, and eventually replacing a lure you only wanted to change the hook on.
The 110# is made for exactly that. The tip is fine enough to enter rings down to 2 mm and open them cleanly, without deforming the ring or the hook eye.
Around that it does the ordinary jobs – hook removal, line cutting on braid, mono and fluorocarbon, and crimping – in a stainless steel body that resists corrosion. The jaws are spring assisted, so they work one-handed.
The handle is a wheat straw composite rather than plain plastic: a biocomposite that uses agricultural waste in place of some of the petroleum plastic, and it is comfortable and grippy when wet.
They are very light and very compact – the sort of tool that lives in a pocket or a small box rather than on a belt. If you fish micro jigs, small minnows, light metal or trout-size tackle, this is the pair to own.
