The entry-level camp bag: a full-size 210 x 75 cm envelope bag that weighs 950 g complete, for warm nights, spare bedding and children, at a price where buying three is not a decision.
The shell is a water-resistant polyester that sheds condensation and damp ground, and the fill is hollow-fibre polyester wadding – light, quick-drying and unbothered by humidity. The bag unzips all the way round and opens out flat, so it works as a quilt in a tent, on a cot or across the back seat.
Two details make it easier to live with than most bags at this price. The full-length zip is a two-way anti-snag design, so it does not chew the lining the way cheap zips do, and you can open the foot end on its own to let your feet out on a warm night. And there is a safety strap at the top: pull it tight and it locks the zip pull in place, so the bag cannot slowly unzip itself during the night and vent your warmth.
It is a warm-weather bag. The maker’s own guidance is to pair it with additional warmth in genuinely cold conditions, which for Tanzania means the Ngorongoro rim, Kilimanjaro or a cold night on the Southern Highlands – take a proper winter bag for those.
