Professional Billiard Glove

Accessories

A three-finger billiard glove that fits either hand. The glove solves one problem: in humid weather the cue drags on a sweaty bridge hand instead of sliding, and a cue that drags cannot be stroked smoothly. In Dar that is most of the year.

Highlights

For the hand the cue slides through

A sweaty bridge hand drags. A glove does not.

Solves a humidity problem

A cue drags on a damp bridge hand. Here that is most of the year, not an occasional nuisance.

Three fingers

Covers the thumb, index and middle - the bridge - and leaves the rest of the hand free.

Either hand

Ambidextrous, so left and right-handed players buy the same glove.

It is not a crutch

The cue should slide freely through the bridge. A glove makes that possible when the air will not.

About this product

Professional Billiard Glove – in stock at 361 Degrees Adventure in Tanzania.

A three-finger billiard glove, cut to fit either hand.

A billiard glove solves a single specific problem, and it is a problem Tanzanian players have far more than European ones. The cue has to slide smoothly through the bridge hand on every stroke – that is what a bridge is for. When the hand is dry, it does. When the hand is damp with sweat, the cue drags and catches, and a cue that catches at the moment of delivery goes wherever the drag sends it. In Dar humidity, hands are damp most of the year.

The glove gives a consistent low-friction surface regardless of what the weather or your nerves are doing. Professional players wear them in air-conditioned halls; here the case is considerably stronger.

Three fingers is the standard cut and it is a sensible one. It covers the thumb, index and middle finger – the three that form the bridge and that the cue actually touches – and leaves the ring and little fingers bare, so the hand still grips the cloth and you keep the feel of the table.

Being cut for either hand means one design serves left and right-handed players. Worn on the bridge hand, not the cue hand.

Wash it regularly. A glove that has absorbed weeks of sweat stops being the clean sliding surface it was bought to be, and hand-washing in cool water with mild soap, air dried out of direct sun, takes a minute.

Buying a Professional Billiard Glove in Tanzania

361 Degrees Adventure keeps the professional billiard glove at our showroom in Upanga, Dar es Salaam, with delivery countrywide across Tanzania. Come and handle it before you buy, or order online and collect.

Every professional billiard glove is checked in store before it leaves us, and our staff use the same kit in the field, so you get an honest answer on fit and sizing rather than a sales pitch.

Not sure which professional billiard glove suits you? Call or message the showroom and we will talk you through the options that are actually in stock in Dar es Salaam.

Spare parts and replacements for the professional billiard glove are easier to get here than on an overseas order, which matters once the gear is in use.

Questions

Good to know

Which hand does it go on?

The bridge hand - the one the cue slides through - not the cue hand. For a right-handed player that is the left hand.

Do I really need one?

In this climate, more than a player in a cool European hall does. The cue has to slide smoothly through the bridge, and a hand damp with sweat makes it drag and catch. That is a shot going somewhere you did not aim it.

Why only three fingers?

Because the cue only touches three. Covering the thumb, index and middle finger gives the sliding surface where it is needed, and leaving the ring and little fingers bare keeps the grip on the cloth and the feel of the table.

Is it left or right handed?

Either - it is cut to fit both. One glove design serves left and right-handed players.

Will it wear out?

Yes, gradually - the sliding surface over the index finger goes first, which is where all the friction is. A glove that has worn shiny there is no longer giving a consistent surface.

How do I wash it?

Hand wash in cool water with mild soap and air dry out of direct sun. Do it regularly: a glove full of weeks of sweat is not the clean sliding surface you bought it for.

Why does chalk matter so much?

Because a cue tip on a ball is a low-friction contact, and without chalk it slips. A miscue - where the tip skids off the ball instead of gripping - is almost always a chalk problem rather than a technique one. Chalk before every shot where you are not hitting dead centre, and brush it on rather than grinding it into the tip.

Do you deliver in Dar es Salaam?

Yes. We deliver across Dar es Salaam and send nationwide to Arusha, Moshi, Mwanza, Dodoma, Zanzibar and beyond by courier. A table is a heavy two-person item, so tell us when you order and we will arrange the right transport and talk through access.
