Tactical Monopod Shooting Stand – Adjustable Outdoor Shooting Support

Hunting Gear

A single-leg shooting rest adjusting from 55 cm to 142 cm and weighing 405 g - low enough for a seated shot, tall enough to stand behind. The V yoke sits on a standard quarter-inch thread, so it swaps for a camera or scope head.

Highlights

Seated to standing, on one leg, at 405 g

55 to 142 cm of adjustment means the same stick works kneeling, sitting or standing. Light enough that carrying it is never the question.

55 to 142 cm

One stick covers seated, kneeling and standing positions. Twist, slide, lock - it takes a couple of seconds in the field.

405 g

Light enough to carry all day on a long walk, which is the whole argument for a monopod over a tripod.

Standard 1/4 inch thread

The V yoke unscrews and a camera or spotting scope head goes straight on. The same stick serves for photography and observation.

Aluminium with reinforced plastic

Metal where the load goes, and light where it does not - the reason it stays under half a kilo.

Product description

About this product

Monopod Shooting Stand Adjustable – in stock at 361 Degrees Adventure in Tanzania.

A monopod is the compromise most people in the field actually want. A tripod is more stable but takes time to deploy and weighs three times as much; freehand is instant but shakes. A single stick with a V yoke on top gives you most of the steadiness for almost none of the weight, and it comes up to position in about a second.

This one adjusts from 55 cm to 142 cm, which is the range that matters: 55 cm supports a seated shot from the ground, the middle of the range covers kneeling, and 142 cm lets you shoot standing with the stick planted in front of you. The lock is a quick-adjust design, so changing between those positions is a twist and a slide rather than a fiddle.

The construction is aluminium with reinforced plastic components, which is how it comes in at 405 g. On a long walk in the field that difference is the reason the stick is with you rather than in the vehicle. A V yoke on top cradles a rifle fore-end without slipping, and it sits on a standard quarter-inch thread – unscrew it and a camera ball head or a spotting scope mount goes straight on, which is how a lot of these end up being used for wildlife photography and observation.

It suits hunting, target practice, wildlife photography and birdwatching. It is finished in black.

Questions

Good to know

Is a monopod steady enough, or do I need a tripod?

A monopod removes most of the shake and deploys in a second. A tripod is steadier for long waits and precise shots but weighs more and takes longer to set. For walking country, most people carry the monopod.

Can I use it with a camera or spotting scope?

Yes. The V yoke unscrews from a standard 1/4 inch thread, so any camera ball head or scope mount fits. A lot of these are bought for wildlife photography rather than shooting.

Does the V yoke hold a rifle securely?

It cradles the fore-end and stops it sliding sideways. It is a rest, not a clamp - you still control the firearm, and it should never be left unattended resting on the stick.

Will 142 cm be tall enough for a standing shot?

For most adults, yes - the stick is planted in front of you and angled slightly back, so the effective support height is a little above the stick itself. Tell us your height and we will advise.

How quickly does it adjust?

The quick-adjust lock means changing from seated to standing height is a twist and a slide, a couple of seconds. That is the practical advantage over a screw-collar design.

Do I need a licence to hunt in Tanzania?

Hunting in Tanzania is regulated - it requires the correct permits and takes place in designated hunting blocks, and firearms are separately licensed. This is a piece of support equipment, not a firearm, but please make sure your hunting and firearm paperwork is in order. Plenty of our customers buy rests like this for spotting scopes and cameras instead.

How does it compare with your tripod and V-yoke sticks?

The monopod is the lightest and fastest to deploy. A tripod rest is far steadier for a long wait. The rotating V-yoke stick sits between the two, with better tracking for a moving target.

Where do these figures come from?

The measurements and weights on this page come from the supplier's own documentation rather than an independently tested manufacturer specification, and the table marks them as such. If a particular figure matters to you, ask us and we will measure the item in the Dar es Salaam showroom before you buy.
