Highlights

Folds to seven by twelve centimetres

A hundred and twenty grams, packing down to the size of a bread roll, and it is still a properly made 18 litre bag when you open it.

Folds to 7 x 12 cm

Genuinely pocket sized when packed. It fits in a jacket pocket, a handbag or a hip belt pouch.

120 g

The lightest real backpack we stock. Carrying it costs nothing at all, which is why it is always there.

Four separate pockets

A main compartment, an outer pocket for quick access, an inner zipped pocket for valuables and two side mesh pockets - unusual on a bag this light.

Silicone-sealed YKK zips

The zips that kill cheap folding packs, done properly - YKK, silicone sealed against water.

Product description

About this product

One hundred and twenty grams, folded to 7 by 12 centimetres – about the size of a bread roll. That is small enough to live in a jacket pocket, a handbag, a hip belt pouch or the smallest corner of a suitcase, which means it is with you on the day something unexpectedly needs carrying.

What surprises people is that it is a properly made bag rather than a sack with straps. There are four separate storage areas: a main compartment big enough for a day’s essentials, an outer pocket for the things you reach for, an inner zipped pocket for a passport or a wallet, and two large side mesh pockets that take a water bottle or a folded umbrella. On an 18 litre bag weighing 120 g, that layout is unusual.

The fabric is silicone-coated 30D nylon with a PU2000 mm water resistance rating, and the zips are YKK sealed with silicone – smooth to use and resistant to rain getting in around them. Zips are where cheap packable bags die, and doing them properly is most of what separates this from a market stall version.

The shoulder straps are breathable tear-resistant nylon, comfortable for a day bag load. It opens out to 23 x 17 x 42 cm. It suits travel, market days, a summit bag out of a bigger pack, and simply having a bag when you did not plan on needing one.

Questions

Good to know

How small is 7 x 12 cm really?

About the size of a bread roll. It fits in a jacket pocket, a handbag or a hip belt pouch, which is why people who own one end up carrying it everywhere.

Is a 120 g bag strong enough to use?

For a day bag load, yes. The 30D nylon is tear resistant and the YKK zips are the good part. Avoid sharp items and very heavy loads - it has no frame and no hip belt.

Is it waterproof?

The fabric is rated to PU 2,000 mm and the zips are silicone sealed, so it handles real rain. The seams are not taped, so put anything critical in a bag inside during a sustained downpour.

How does it compare with the 22 litre model?

This one is smaller and lighter - 18 litres, 120 g, folding to 7 x 12 cm. The 22 litre is 170 g with more capacity. Take this one if packed size is what matters.

What do people actually use it for?

Travel spare bag, market bag, summit-day bag out of a larger pack, and a day bag from a hotel. It is the kind of thing people buy one of and then buy two more as gifts.

Can it carry a laptop?

A small tablet, yes. A full laptop is not what a frameless 120 g bag is for - the fabric offers no protection against knocks.

Will the straps dig in?

Not at a day bag load. They are breathable tear-resistant nylon rather than padded, so keep the load light and it stays comfortable.

Do you stock these in Dar es Salaam?

Yes, we keep them in the showroom and ship across Tanzania. Message us with your town for delivery.
