About this product
Club Brush Groove Cleaner – in stock at 361 Degrees Adventure in Tanzania.
A golf club brush with a water reservoir built into the handle and a pump spray, plus a clip to hang it on the bag.
The reservoir is what separates this from an ordinary brush. Dried mud in a groove does not brush out – it needs wetting first, and on a course that normally means a damp towel that dries out by the fourth hole. A pump of water directly onto the face, then a brush, actually removes what is in there.
Why it matters comes down to what grooves do. They work like tyre tread: they give grass, mud and water somewhere to go so the face can grip the ball’s cover and shear it, which is what creates backspin. Pack them with dirt and the face slides under the ball instead. The result is a flyer – much less spin, a hot unpredictable ball speed, and an approach that lands and runs off the back of the green rather than stopping. Distance control disappears exactly where scores are made.
One firm caution. If your brush has a wire bristle side – many do – use it only on iron faces. Never take wire to a driver crown, a fairway wood, or a putter face: it will leave permanent scratches.
The supplier quotes a 200 ml reservoir. That is at the top end of what a handle of this size plausibly holds, so treat it as their figure.
