About this product
A JBB snooker ball set.
Snooker balls are 52.5 mm, and that matters because there are three ball standards in common use and they are not interchangeable. American pool uses 57.2 mm, British pub pool uses 50.8 mm, and snooker sits between them at 52.5. The pockets, the rack and the table are built around one of those sizes – the wrong balls will not rack correctly and will not behave predictably in the pockets. If you are unsure what your table takes, measure a ball you already have before ordering.
A full snooker set is twenty-two balls rather than the sixteen in a pool set: fifteen reds, six colours – yellow, green, brown, blue, pink and black – and a cue ball. Ask us to confirm the count in the set we are holding before you order, as some sets are supplied as partial or replacement sets.
Balls wear in two ways, one obvious and one not. Chips and cracks announce themselves. Going slightly out of round does not, and an out-of-round ball drifts off line on a slow roll, which players almost always blame on the table.
Clean them regularly with warm water and a little mild soap, dried thoroughly. The blue film that builds up is chalk, and chalk carried from a ball onto the cloth is what wears cloth out. Never use solvents.
