About this product
A PVC triangle rack measuring 26.4 cm, in white or black.
The one thing that matters on a rack is that it fits the balls tightly. When the cue ball hits the pack, energy travels from ball to ball through the points where they touch – and any ball not in contact with its neighbours is a gap where that transfer stops. A rack even slightly too large for the balls leaves several such gaps, and the result is a break that feels dead however hard it is struck. Players blame their technique; it is almost always the rack.
Ball sizes vary by game – American pool is 57.2 mm, snooker 52.5 mm and British pub pool 50.8 mm – and rack sizes are quoted in different ways by different makers. Rather than have you work it out from a number, tell us what your table and balls are and we will confirm this rack fits before you order. It takes a minute and it avoids a rack that does not close.
PVC is the practical material here. It will not warp in humidity the way a wooden rack in a coastal house can, and it costs little enough that replacing a cracked one is a non-event.
Racking properly: apex ball on the foot spot, push the balls up into the apex so every one touches its neighbours, then lift the triangle straight up rather than sliding it off. Sliding drags the pack apart and undoes the tight rack you just made.
