About this product

Nitecore’s i-series lights use a dedicated 21700 cell with a different contact arrangement and a much higher discharge rating than a standard 21700. The NL2150HPi is that cell: 5,000 mAh and 15 A continuous, which is what a 4,000-lumen tactical light needs if the output is not going to droop.

It is the battery supplied with the P20iX, P23i and P30i, and the correct spare for all of them.

Good to know

Can I use this in a non-i-series light?

No. The i-series contact arrangement is different, and putting the wrong 21700 in a light either will not make contact or will not be protected properly. Match the cell to the light.

How do I charge it?

In the light itself over USB-C, or in a Nitecore charger such as the UM2. This cell has no USB port of its own.

Why does discharge rating matter?

A 4,000-lumen light pulls a lot of current. A cell that cannot deliver it sags in voltage, the light dims early and the cell heats up. The 15 A rating is what keeps the output where it should be.

How should I store a spare?

Around half charged, somewhere cool, with the terminals covered. Never store one flat, and never loose with keys or coins.

Can I fly with it?

Spare lithium cells go in cabin baggage only, never in the hold, with terminals taped or in a case. Check how many your airline allows.

What if it swells or gets hot?

Take it out of service immediately. Do not charge it, do not puncture it, and dispose of it at a recycling point rather than in household waste.

How long will it last?

Several hundred full cycles. Heat is what ages a lithium cell fastest, so keep the light out of a parked car in the sun.

When should I replace it?

When the runtime is clearly shorter than it was when new, or it will not hold charge for a week unused.
