Product description

About this product

Twenty thousand lumens is not a number most people have a use for until they see it. Nineteen CREE XP-L2 LEDs in a 50 mm head produce a flood so wide and so bright that a warehouse, a compound or a boatyard is simply lit, with a 290-metre throw for the far end.

The engineering problem with that output is heat, which is why the body is a unibody die-cast CNC tube: rigid, light for its size at 422 g, and fast to shed heat. Two 21700 cells are built in, 9,600 mAh between them, charged through a USB-C port.

Tactical buttons sit on both sides so it works left or right handed, with STROBE READY and TurboReady interchangeable so the button does whichever job you want. It stands on its tail.

Questions

Good to know

How long does 20,000 lumens last?

Seconds to a minute or two, then the light steps down. That is physics, not a fault: no hand-held light can dissipate the heat of 20,000 lumens for long. The die-cast body is what lets it hold a very high sustained level after the initial burst.

Is this practical or a party trick?

It is genuinely practical for area work: a vessel at night, a warehouse with no power, a search over open ground. For walking around it is far too much, which is what the lower levels are for.

Are the batteries replaceable?

No, the two 21700 cells are built in and charge through the USB-C port. Plan charging around it rather than carrying spares.

How long does a full charge take?

Several hours from flat, and it wants a proper charger rather than a 1 amp phone plug. A 5V/3A supply or a good power bank makes a real difference.

Will it get too hot to hold?

It gets warm quickly on the top levels, which is normal and is the body doing its job. Regulation steps it down before it becomes uncomfortable.

Can I fly with it?

The built-in pack is around 35 Wh, under the 100 Wh cabin limit, so it goes in hand luggage only. Confirm with your airline, as some ask about built-in cells of this size.

What should I clean after use?

Rinse salt off, dry the port, wipe the lens with a lens cloth. The front glass picks up sea spray fast on a boat.
