About this product

This is the MH40 Pro sold as a complete hunting package. The light is the same one: a UHi 40 MAX LED producing 3,500 lumens and 423,000 candela, throwing 1,300 metres, powered by a 10,000 mAh NBP100R pack that charges over USB-C and runs up to 62 hours.

What the kit adds is everything needed to use it on a rifle. A GM02 Pro mount attaches the light to the weapon. The wireless remote switch, with its hook-and-loop straps and Picatinny mounts, puts the control where your support hand already is. Two 65 mm filters, red and green, slip over the head: green is the usual choice for spotting, red for preserving your own night vision and disturbing game less.

Good to know

Why green and red filters rather than just white?

Green carries well and many hunters find game reacts to it less than to white. Red costs you the most light but preserves your own night vision, so you can still see your footing when the beam is off. Which one you reach for is a matter of species, distance and local practice.

Will the GM02 Pro fit my rifle?

It mounts a 1 inch body light, which is what the MH40 Pro is, to a standard rail or barrel. Bring the rifle or the rail dimensions to the shop if you want it checked before you buy.

Is night hunting legal in Tanzania?

Lamping rules vary by district, by species and by the terms of your licence. Check with your professional hunter or the wildlife authority before using a light on game. We sell the equipment; the permission is yours to hold.

Does the kit cost less than buying the parts separately?

That is the point of it. The mount, the two 65 mm filters and the remote add up on their own, and this is how Nitecore packages them.

How far will I actually identify an animal?

Far less than 1,300 metres. The throw figure is the distance the beam still registers; identification with the naked eye behind it is realistically a few hundred metres, further with binoculars or a scope.

Can I use the light without the mount?

Yes, it is a complete hand-held searchlight with a holster. The kit parts come off.

How do I look after the filters?

They are coated glass in a rubber frame. Keep them in the pouch when they are off the light, and clean them with a lens cloth rather than a shirt tail.
