Product description

About this product

The EDC37 is what the EDC line builds up to. Two nine-core UHi 20 MAX LEDs deliver 8,000 lumens with a 420-metre throw, and behind them sits an 8,000 mAh battery, which is the part that matters: a very bright light with a small cell is a novelty, and this one runs for 190 hours at its lowest level.

It keeps the flat profile of the EDC range at 108 x 39.3 x 31 mm and 199 g. The OLED screen reports level, lumens, battery and runtime. Four brightness levels cycle normally, with SEARCH, LUMIN SHIELD and STROBE READY assignable to one button so the mode you care about is one press away.

The two detachable tips at the head are high-hardness silicon nitride ceramic, intended to break vehicle glass quickly. They unscrew if you would rather not carry them.

Questions

Good to know

Can it hold 8,000 lumens?

No light this size can, and any that claims to is lying. Turbo is a burst: expect a short period at full output before the temperature regulation steps it down to a level it can sustain. The 8,000 mAh battery is what makes the sustained levels genuinely long.

What are the ceramic tips for?

Breaking vehicle glass in an emergency. Silicon nitride is harder than the glass, so a sharp strike on a side window shatters it. They unscrew if you would rather carry it without them.

Is it too heavy for a pocket?

At 199 g it is noticeably heavier than the EDC23, but it is still flat, which is what makes a pocket light bearable. Most owners carry it clipped inside a trouser pocket or in a vehicle door.

Will it charge fast?

Yes, it takes fast charging over USB-C. A good 5V/3A charger or a decent power bank will fill it far quicker than a phone charger from a market stall.

How do I care for it here?

IP54 means rain and dust, not immersion. Keep the port sealed, dry it off after a wet night, and store it out of a hot car. A lithium cell parked at 40 degrees loses capacity faster than one that gets used.

Can I fly with it?

The built-in battery is around 29 Wh, well under the 100 Wh cabin limit, so it travels in hand luggage, never in the hold. Confirm with your airline before you check in.

Is there a lockout?

Yes. The rapid lock switch prevents it turning on in a bag, which on an 8,000-lumen light is not a small thing.
