About this product

Long Range Tactical Flashlight – in stock at 361 Degrees Adventure in Dar es Salaam.

The P30i is built around distance. A CREE XHP35 HI LED behind a 65 mm head produces 250,000 candela, which is what gives it a 1,000-metre beam at 2,000 lumens. That is a different job from a bright everyday light, and the body reflects it: 177.5 mm long and 255.5 g.

It is set up for mounted use. The supplied RSW2i remote pressure switch lets you run the light without moving your hand off the fore-end, and the internal contacts use an anti-impact reverse polarity protection mechanism specifically designed to survive recoil. A tactical tail switch and a metal side switch control five brightness levels and two special modes.

Power is a NITECORE NL2150HPi 21700 cell of 5,000 mAh, charged in the light over USB-C; CR123 and RCR123 primaries fit with the supplied magazine.

Who It Suits

Licensed hunters, ranch and conservancy security, marine use, and anyone who genuinely needs to see a kilometre rather than light a compound. For close work it is the wrong tool, and a P23i or P20iX is the better buy.

Good to know

Why only 2,000 lumens if it throws a kilometre?

Because throw comes from concentrating light, not from producing more of it. The XHP35 HI has a very small emitting surface, and the 65 mm reflector focuses it into a tight column. A 4,000-lumen flood light will not reach a third as far.

Is it useful close up?

Not very. The beam is a narrow spot with little spill, which is hard to use at arm's length. If you want one light for everything, this is not it.

What does the remote switch do?

Runs the light from a pressure pad you can mount on a rifle fore-end or a boat rail, so the light comes on without you shifting grip. The cable part is supplied.

Can I mount it on a rifle?

Yes, with a mount for its body diameter, and the internals are built to take recoil. Check local rules before using a lamp on game.

What filters fit it?

65 mm filters, the same size as the P40 and MH40 series. Red and green are the usual choices for game work.

How long will the battery last on high?

Under an hour at the top levels; 100 hours is the lowest level. Carry a spare 21700 if you are out all night.

How do I care for it after a wet night?

Dry the head and the charge port, rinse salt off, and keep the O-ring clean. IP68 keeps water out, but salt left on aluminium still marks it.

Can I fly with the battery?

Spare lithium cells and power banks must travel in your cabin bag and are not allowed in checked luggage - that is a firm rule on every airline out of Julius Nyerere, not a preference. Protect the terminals so nothing can short against keys or coins: keep the cell in its case, in the original packaging, or tape the contacts. A cell installed in the light itself may go either way, though the cabin is still the safer choice. Capacity limits only bite above 100 Wh, and a 21700 or 18650 cell is nowhere near that - roughly 13 to 18 Wh - so no airline approval is needed.
