About this product
A worm hook exists to be fished in places that would snag anything else. The offset shank lets you bury the point just under the surface of a soft plastic, so the lure comes through weed, timber and coral rubble cleanly, and the point breaks out on the strike. It is the reason soft plastics can be fished where fish actually live rather than in the open water beside them.
The Noeby version is made from Japanese high carbon steel, which is hard enough to resist deforming under pressure, with a chemically sharpened point. Chemical sharpening etches the point rather than grinding it, producing a finer point than a machine can – sharper out of the packet, though worth checking regularly since a fine point is also a delicate one.
The plating is a multilayer process rather than a single coat, which is what keeps a hook usable after several sessions in salt water instead of blooming with rust.
Rig it Texas style: point into the nose of the bait about a centimetre, out through the side, bait slid up to the eye, then rotate the hook and bury the point back just under the plastic. In Tanzania that means bass, tigerfish, Nile perch and catfish inland, and snapper, grunter and queenfish on plastics around structure inshore.
