Dual certification is a real and meaningful thing in this category, so it is worth explaining what it means. A cycling helmet is designed for a single severe impact – the EPS foam crushes, absorbs the energy and is finished. A skate helmet is designed for multiple lower-energy impacts, because a skateboarder falls repeatedly, and it typically uses a tougher shell and a different liner.
