Soccer Training Hurdles

Training Equipment

Adjustable step hurdles for speed, agility and footwork training. They teach knee lift and foot placement, and the adjustable height lets the same set work for a nine-year-old and a first-team player - which is what makes a set worth owning rather than renting.

Knee lift and foot placement

The two things hurdles train that cones cannot.

Trains lift, not just direction

Hurdles force knee drive and clean foot placement in a way cones and ladders do not.

Adjustable height

The same set works for a child and a senior player, which is what makes it worth owning.

Keep the reps short

Ten to fifteen minutes of sharp work beats forty minutes of tired repetition.

Store them out of the sun

UV is what kills plastic training kit here, long before use does.

Product description

About this product

Soccer Training Hurdles – in stock at 361 Degrees Adventure in Dar es Salaam.

Adjustable step hurdles for speed, agility and footwork training.

Hurdles do something that cones and ladders do not. A ladder trains foot speed and rhythm in a flat plane; cones train change of direction over distance. A hurdle forces the knee up and the foot down cleanly in a specific place, and it does it under time pressure – which is the movement pattern behind running over uneven ground, stepping around a challenge and recovering balance quickly.

The adjustable height is what makes a set worth owning rather than improvising. The same hurdles set low are right for a nine-year-old learning to pick their feet up, and set high are a genuine challenge for a senior player. A fixed-height set is only ever right for one group.

Use them early in a session and keep the reps short and genuinely quick. Agility work trains neuromuscular patterns rather than fitness, and a tired agility drill trains sloppy footwork – which is worse than not doing it.

One practical note for here: set them on flat, predictable ground. Loose murram turns an agility drill into an exercise in not slipping, which trains nothing useful and risks an ankle.

And store them out of the sun. UV is what finishes plastic training equipment in this climate – it goes brittle and snaps long before it wears out from use.

Questions

Good to know

Do these actually improve anything?

Yes, if used with intent rather than as a warm-up ritual. Agility work trains the neuromuscular patterns behind changing direction quickly - foot placement, hip position, ground contact time. What it does not do is improve fitness. Keep the reps short and sharp and rest properly between them; a tired agility drill trains sloppy footwork.

How long should a session be?

Short. Ten to fifteen minutes of genuinely quick work is worth more than forty minutes of tired repetition, because the whole point is speed and precision. Do it early in a session while the players are fresh, not at the end as a punishment.

What surface should I use them on?

Flat and predictable. Grass is kindest on ankles, but a dry compacted pitch or a smooth concrete surface works. Avoid loose murram - the footing is unreliable and the whole drill becomes about not slipping rather than about foot speed.

Are they suitable for children?

Yes, and agility work suits children particularly well - the coordination patterns are laid down most readily between roughly eight and fourteen. Keep it playful and competitive rather than technical, and keep the reps short.

How does the climate here affect equipment?

Heat raises the pressure inside an inflated ball, so a ball pumped in the cool morning and left on a sunlit pitch is harder by the afternoon - inflate toward the lower end of the range. UV degrades stitching, PU covers and net twine, so keep balls and nets out of prolonged direct sun when they are not in use. And dry kit properly rather than sealing it damp in a bag.

How do I store them?

Out of the sun. UV is what finishes plastic training equipment in this climate - it goes brittle and cracks long before it wears out from use. A bag in a store room rather than a corner of the pitch.

Do you deliver in Dar es Salaam?

Yes. We deliver across Dar es Salaam and send nationwide to Arusha, Moshi, Mwanza, Dodoma, Zanzibar and beyond by courier. Call or WhatsApp us if you need a same-day drop in the city.

What else should I pair them with?

Cones, a ladder and hurdles cover the three basic patterns between them: cones for change of direction over distance, a ladder for foot speed and rhythm, hurdles for lift and knee drive. A coach with all three has a full agility session; with one, they have a drill.
