About this product

A bucket is the piece of kit nobody packs and everybody wants: for carrying water from a tap to a pitch, washing up, icing drinks, rinsing fish, soaking clothes, or as a basin outside a tent. The problem has always been that a bucket is a bucket-shaped hole in your luggage.

This one folds flat to about two centimetres. Open it out and it is a proper round bucket with a carry handle, in food-grade waterproof fabric that wipes clean and does not hold a smell.

Good to know

Which size should I buy?

The 10 litre is the one that gets carried, because a full 10 litre bucket already weighs 10 kg and that is about what one person wants to lift. The 20 litre is for a base camp where it mostly sits still.

Will it stand up on its own when full?

Yes. It holds its round shape when filled, and the handle is there for carrying rather than for holding it upright.

Can I put hot water in it?

Warm, yes. Boiling, no. It is a coated fabric bucket, not a metal one, and very hot water will shorten its life.

Is it safe for drinking water?

The material is food grade, so yes for short-term carrying. For storing drinking water over days, use a sealed jug rather than an open bucket.

How do I stop it smelling?

Dry it before folding. Fabric folded away damp in Dar humidity will smell within a week, and fish or food residue makes it worse. Rinse, wipe, hang.

Can I use it to wash clothes?

Yes, and that is what a lot of campers use it for. It handles soap and scrubbing without complaint.

Will it crack if I leave it folded for months?

Folded flat in a cool dry place it is fine. What damages it is being folded tightly while wet, or being left in direct sun in a car for weeks.
