About this product

This is the rigid version of camp water storage: a moulded food-grade PE container with a tap on the front and a wide handle across the top. Unlike a collapsible jug it holds its shape, stacks, stands solidly on a table and survives being slid around a vehicle.

The tap is the reason to buy it. Set it on a table or a tailgate and anyone can fill a cup, wash their hands or top up a pot without lifting the container at all.

Good to know

How heavy is it when full?

Water is a kilogram a litre, so full it is about 20 kg plus the container. Carry it with two hands or slide it, and fill it where it is going to stand if you can.

Can I put hot water in it?

No. PE is for cold and cool water. Hot water softens the walls and can distort the tap seat.

Will the water taste of plastic?

Rinse it two or three times before first use. Any new PE container tastes of itself at the start and then stops.

How do I keep it clean?

Warm water and a little bicarbonate of soda, swilled and rinsed well, then dried with the cap off. Do not use bleach, which lingers in PE and taints water for weeks.

Will it survive a boot on a rough road?

It is rigid moulded PE, and the shape is designed to sit flat and not roll. Wedge it so it cannot slide into anything with a sharp corner.

Can I leave it standing full for weeks?

Water stored in a warm place will go stale and can grow algae if any light gets in. Keep it in the shade, empty and refill it every week or so for drinking water.

Does it stack?

Yes, and that is one of the advantages over a collapsible jug. Keep the weight sensible if you stack them full.
