Highlights

Eight bottles, one bag, a whole spice rack that rolls up

The larger of the two sets - two extra bottles over the six-piece, same knob caps for liquids and double flip lids for ground spice, same water-resistant roll bag.

Eight bottles

Enough for oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, pilau masala, chilli and two more besides - a full camp spice rack rather than the basics.

Two bottle types

Knob-cap bottles pour liquids in a controlled stream; double-flip bottles shake out ground spice or open wide for coarse salt.

Food-grade polypropylene

Safe for food, does not carry flavours between refills, and will not shatter in a camping crate.

Water-resistant roll bag

PVC-backed polyester keeps rain, condensation and vehicle dust off the bottles and holds every one upright.

Product description

About this product

Salt, pilau masala, oil and chilli have a way of escaping into a camping box. This Naturehike set is the tidy answer: a roll of food-grade polypropylene bottles, each sized for a different kind of seasoning, held in a PVC-backed polyester bag that keeps them upright, dry and in one place.

There are two kinds of bottle in the set. The liquid bottles, at 65 ml and 135 ml, use a knob cap that pours a controlled stream rather than emptying half the oil into the pan at once. The solid bottles at 100 ml take a double flip lid – one side opens a shaker for salt and ground spice, the other lifts wide so you can spoon out something coarser like rock salt or dried chilli. Each lid seals into its own compartment, which is what keeps the contents dry and stops the whole bag smelling of masala after one trip.

Polypropylene was the right choice here: it is food-safe, it does not hold flavours between refills, and it survives being dropped on a rock in a way glass does not. The bag itself is PVC-backed polyester, so a splash of rain or a wet cooler lid does not reach the bottles inside, and it rolls closed small enough to sit in the lid pocket of a camping crate.

For Tanzanian trips this is most useful on anything longer than a night – a safari camp, a Zanzibar beach house, a Kilimanjaro climb where the cook needs seasonings that are not in kilogramme sacks. Refill it at home from your own spice tins and it goes out and back without repacking.

Questions

Good to know

Are the bottles food safe?

Yes. They are made from food-grade polypropylene, the same plastic used in kitchen storage containers. It does not carry flavours between refills the way cheaper plastics do.

Will the bottles leak oil in a bag?

The lids seal into their own compartment and the bottles are designed to travel filled. As with any travel bottle, do not fill right to the brim with oil and keep the bag upright in the vehicle where you can.

Can I put fresh chilli or wet masala paste in them?

Dry spices, salt and oil are what these are built for. Wet paste will keep for a short trip but should be washed out afterwards rather than left in the bottle for weeks.

Is the bag waterproof?

The bag is PVC-backed polyester, which sheds rain and splashes and protects the bottles from a damp cooler or a wet vehicle floor. It is water resistant rather than something to submerge.

Can I wash the bottles?

Yes, by hand in warm water. Let them dry fully before refilling, particularly in Dar es Salaam humidity, or ground spice will cake inside the shaker holes.

What is the difference between the 6-piece and 8-piece set?

The 8-piece set has two more bottles for the same kind of use - it is the one to pick if you cook for a group or carry more than a few seasonings. Both use the same bottles and the same style of bag.

Do you deliver outside Dar es Salaam?

Yes, we ship across Tanzania. Message us with your town and we will confirm cost and delivery time, or collect from the showroom in Dar es Salaam.

Where do these figures come from?

The measurements and weights on this page come from the supplier's own documentation rather than an independently tested manufacturer specification, and the table marks them as such. They are a good guide, but if a particular dimension is critical for you, ask us and we will measure the item in the Dar es Salaam showroom before you buy.
