Highlights

5,500 W on its own folding table

Not a burner you balance on something - a stove with its own legs, a flat working surface around the flame, and pot supports wide enough for a real pan.

5,500 W output

Roughly twice what a typical camping burner produces. It cooks for a group and it keeps cooking when the wind is up.

Stands on its own legs

Folding legs and a flat panel top mean no hunting for a level rock or a table that will not melt.

Aviation aluminium, stainless and brass

Metal in every place that matters, so repeated heat cycles do not distort the burner or the valve.

Folds to 26 x 25 x 10 cm

Legs fold under and the whole stove goes flat at 2.45 kg, slim enough to slide down the side of a vehicle load.

Product description

About this product

Most camping stoves are a burner you have to find somewhere to put. This one arrives as its own table: a flat panel top with a wooden edge strip, four folding legs underneath, and a 5,500 W burner set into the middle with wide pot supports around it. Setting up means unfolding the legs and standing it on the ground – no hunting for a level rock, no worrying about what the heat will do to a plastic camp table.

The output is the headline figure. At 5,500 W it is roughly twice what a normal camping burner manages, which changes what you can realistically cook. A large pot of rice or a full pan of meat comes up to temperature rather than stalling, and on a windy site there is enough heat in reserve that the wind does not win. The valve gives fine control, so it also turns down properly for slower cooking.

The materials are worth noting. It is built from aviation-grade aluminium, 201 stainless steel and brass – metal at the burner head, metal at the valve, metal in the frame. That is what separates a stove that lasts several seasons from one that distorts after a few hard runs. The panel top also gives you a small flat working surface next to the flame, which in practice is where the spoon, the salt and the lid end up.

Folded it measures 26 x 25 x 10 cm and weighs 2.45 kg – a vehicle-camping stove rather than a backpacking one. It suits safari camps, fishing trips, a lodge kitchen, and keeping at home for power cuts. The gas canister is not included.

Questions

Good to know

Which gas does it connect to?

It takes a separate gas canister through an inlet valve on the side. Because the exact fitting varies between shipments, tell us before you order and we will check the unit in the Dar es Salaam showroom and supply the correct hose or adaptor with it.

Is a gas canister included?

No. We stock canisters in Dar es Salaam and will match the right one, with the correct connection, to the stove you buy.

Is 5,500 W too powerful for normal cooking?

No - the valve turns down properly for simmering. The extra output matters most when you are cooking for a group, working in wind, or bringing a large pot up from cold.

Can I put a large sufuria on it?

Yes, the pot supports are wide and it stands on its own legs, so it is far more stable than a canister-top burner. Keep the pot centred and the legs on firm, level ground.

Can I use it on a plastic camping table?

Use it on the ground or on a stone or metal surface. It has its own legs precisely so it does not need a table, and a plastic table under a 5,500 W burner is a bad idea.

Is it suitable for backpacking?

No. At 2.45 kg it is a vehicle-camping stove. For trekking Kilimanjaro or Meru, our 51 g and 230 g canister-top burners are the right choice.

Will it work in wind?

Better than a small burner, because there is more heat to lose. On a very exposed site a windshield still makes a real difference, and we stock those separately.

Do you deliver upcountry?

Yes, we ship across Tanzania. Gas canisters have transport restrictions on some routes, so message us with your town and we will tell you what can be sent.

Where do these figures come from?

The measurements, weights and output figures on this page come from the supplier's own documentation rather than an independently tested manufacturer specification, and the table marks them as such. If a particular figure matters to you, ask us and we will check the item in the Dar es Salaam showroom before you buy.
