Most pliers are lost rather than worn out. They go over the side of a boat, they fall out of a bag, or they disappear into the bottom of a tackle box and are found a year later rusted solid. The Cutter Plus comes with the two accessories that prevent all three: a sheath and a lanyard.
The pliers themselves are aluminium with stainless steel working parts – light enough to carry on a belt all day, strong where the load goes, and corrosion resistant throughout. The cutters are sharp enough to go through braided line cleanly, which ordinary pliers cannot do; braid is hard enough that standard cutters crush and fray it instead.
There is a split-ring tool in the tip, which is what you use to change a hook on a lure without bending the ring or putting a hook through your finger.
The handle is ergonomic, which sounds like a throwaway claim and is not – a pair of pliers used for two hours of unhooking on a hot day is exactly where a bad handle shape gives you blisters.
Rinse them in fresh water after every sea trip and oil the pivot. Salt is what kills pliers here, not use.
