Three things separate a good gaiter from a cheap one, and this has all of them. The first is a real waterproof membrane: three-layer construction with a TPU film, which keeps water out rather than merely resisting it for the first hour, while still letting sweat through so your legs are not soaked from the inside by mid-morning.
The second is the surface. The outer is brushed rather than smooth, so it does not rasp when it drags across grass and branches. For hunting, stalking or wildlife filming, that matters more than almost any other feature – a nylon gaiter announces you at every step, and this one does not.
The third is the instep strap. On every gaiter ever made, the strap running under the boot is the part that wears through, usually long before anything else has aged. Here it is high-abrasion rubber, it is replaceable, and a spare pair comes in the box. The strap also runs on the inside of the foot rather than the outside, which stops it snagging on branches and roots.
The outer fabric is 600D woven, tough enough for thorn scrub, rock and forest debris, and the whole gaiter is machine washable. It closes with a full-length hook-and-loop strip for quick fitting, with an adjustable top buckle and an elastic band to seal it against the calf. It suits hunting, wet-season hiking, fieldwork and anyone walking through long grass at dawn.
