Naturehike Phantom Double Burner Folding Gas Stove

Cooking Gear

A two-burner folding gas stove that runs on isobutane canisters and puts out 2,300 W, opening to 50 x 21.5 cm and folding down to a case you can carry in one hand. It arrives with two grill plates and a griddle plate, so the same stove cooks a pot of rice, fries eggs and grills meat without extra equipment.

Highlights

Two burners, a griddle and a grill in one folding case

Piezo ignition on each burner, 2,300 W of output, and a 46 cm hose so the canister sits away from the heat. Folds flat and weighs 2.5 kg complete.

Two independent burners

Cook the main dish and boil water at the same time, each burner with its own control and its own piezo igniter.

2,300 W (7,848 BTU/h)

Enough heat to bring a full pot to the boil at altitude or in wind, not just simmer.

Griddle and grill plates included

A 19.4 x 17.4 cm griddle plate and two grill plates come in the box, so the stove doubles as a table-top braai.

Folds to a carry case

The whole stove closes into a flat case at 2.5 kg, small enough for the back of a Land Cruiser or a camp table.

Product description

About this product

Single-burner stoves are fine until you want rice and a stew at the same time. The Naturehike Phantom is a double-burner built around that problem: two burners side by side, each with its own valve and piezo igniter, in a case that folds flat when the meal is over. Open, it measures 50 x 21.5 cm – a proper cooking surface rather than a token second ring – and the whole thing weighs 2.5 kg.

Output is 2,300 W, or 7,848 BTU per hour, which is real cooking heat. It runs on screw-thread isobutane canisters through a 46 cm hose, and that hose matters more than it sounds: it keeps the canister off to the side rather than sitting directly under a hot burner, which is both safer and easier to change mid-meal. The piezo igniters mean no matches, which anyone who has tried to light a stove in wind on the Ngorongoro rim will appreciate.

What sets this one apart is what comes in the box. Two grill plates at 17.3 x 19.4 cm and a griddle plate at 19.4 x 17.4 cm drop onto the burners, turning the stove into a table-top braai for nyama choma or a flat surface for eggs and pancakes. Take them off and you have two open burners for pots. That covers most of what a camp kitchen is asked to do without carrying a separate grill.

For Tanzanian use it suits vehicle-based camping, beach trips and safari camps rather than backpacking – at 2.5 kg it is heavier than a solo trekking burner, and the payoff is a stove that cooks for a group. It works as well on a veranda in Dar es Salaam during a power cut as it does on a camp table in Ruaha.

Questions

Good to know

Which gas canisters does it take?

Standard screw-thread (EN417) isobutane canisters, the same ones used by most camping stoves. We stock these in Dar es Salaam. It does not connect directly to a domestic LPG cylinder without a separate regulator and adaptor.

Can I connect it to a household gas cylinder?

Not as supplied. The hose is built for a screw-thread camping canister. Using a domestic LPG cylinder needs a matching regulator and adaptor - ask us before trying it, as the wrong fitting is a real safety risk.

Is it stable enough to hold a big pot?

It handles normal camping pots comfortably across the 50 cm open frame. For a very large sufuria we would put it on a firm table rather than uneven ground, and keep the pot centred over one burner rather than spanning both.

Does it work in wind?

The folding sides give some shelter and the piezo igniters light reliably, but in strong wind on an exposed site a separate windshield makes a noticeable difference to boil times. We stock those separately.

Can I use both burners at full power at the same time?

Yes, though a single canister will cool and lose pressure faster when both burners run flat out, especially on a cold morning at altitude. Keeping the canister out of the shade helps.

Is it suitable for backpacking?

Not really. At 2.5 kg it is built for vehicle camping, beach trips and safari camps. For trekking Kilimanjaro or Meru a single-burner canister-top stove is the lighter choice.

Can the grill plates go in the dishwasher?

Hand washing is safer for the coating. Let them cool, then wash with warm water and a soft cloth rather than steel wool.

Do you deliver this upcountry?

Yes, we ship across Tanzania. Message us with your town and we will confirm cost and timing, or you can collect from the Dar es Salaam showroom.
