About this product
Vertical jigging is a physical way to fish and it breaks rods that were not built for it. The load is not a cast – it is a repeated, hard, upward pull with a heavy metal jig on the end, and then a fish that pulls the other way for twenty minutes. That is why jigging rods look the way they do: short, one piece, with a long butt section to brace against your body and a blank that bends into the middle rather than at the tip.
The AHJC561 is 5 ft 6 in and rated 80-200 g of jig. That covers most of the knife jigs and speed jigs people fish on the drop-offs and pinnacles off Dar es Salaam and around Mafia – typically 100 to 180 g depending on depth and current. It is the casting version, which means it is built for an overhead or conventional reel with the guides on top. For jigging that is the stronger arrangement: the load pushes the line into the blank rather than trying to pull the guides off it.
CRONY’s Amazing series is their dedicated jigging family, split into Heavy Jigging, Slow Jigging, Light Jig and Brisk Jigging. All are one-piece, and CRONY markets the range with Fuji guides and Fuji reel seats.
One thing to check before ordering: CRONY builds the AHJC561 code in more than one jig rating – an 80-200 g and a 150-300 g version. The rod on this page is the 80-200 g. If you want the heavier one, tell us and we will confirm availability.
