Three concentric rings of flame, which is what puts real heat under a wok (supplier figure).

Wok-capable

Most camping stoves cannot stir-fry. This is built to.

Product description

About this product

Most portable stoves have one ring of flame and are built for boiling. Stir-frying needs heat across the base of a wok, which is why this one uses three concentric burner rings. The supplier rates it at 3,800 W, and the difference shows the moment you put a wok on it.

It runs on standard flat cassette canisters and folds down for transport. Model BRS-98.

Questions

Good to know

Where do these figures come from?

The 3,800 W output is the supplier's figure rather than an independently tested one, and the table marks it as such.

Can I use it inside a tent?

No. Every gas stove produces carbon monoxide, which has no smell and kills people in their sleep. Cook outside, or in a porch with the doors wide open and never with anyone sleeping in the tent.

Which gas does it take?

Bring the stove or a photo of the gas fitting when you buy fuel. Screw-in, pierceable and flat cassette canisters are three different systems and are not interchangeable.

How do I stop the wind blowing the flame out?

A windshield. It is the single cheapest upgrade to any camping stove and it cuts fuel use as well, because a flame bent sideways is heating air rather than your pot.

How do I clean it?

Let it cool completely, brush the burner ports clear of food and soot, and wipe the body. Blocked ports are what turn an even blue flame into a yellow spitting one.

Is it safe to leave burning unattended?

No, and especially not in dry grass. Tanzania in the dry season goes up quickly.

How do I store it?

Disconnected from the gas, dry, with the canister stored separately, upright and out of the sun.

Why is my flame yellow rather than blue?

Usually blocked ports or a canister running low. A yellow flame makes soot on your pots and wastes gas.
