Full Face Snorkel Mask - 180-Degree View, Dry Top and Anti-Fog Channels

Masks & Snorkels

Breathe through your nose and mouth as normal - no mouthpiece to bite. Separate inhale and exhale channels stop the lens fogging, a floating ball seals the tube when it goes under, and the silicone skirt seals the whole face.

Highlights

For people who cannot get on with a mouthpiece

Plenty of people try snorkelling once, find that biting a rubber tube and breathing only through the mouth makes them panic, and never go back. A full-face mask removes that entirely: you breathe the way you always have, and you can talk yourself calm.

180-degree panoramic lens

One curved pane across the whole face - you see the reef around you, not through a letterbox.

Separate breathing channels

Fresh air sweeps across the inside of the lens, your warm breath leaves by another route. That is what stops the fogging.

Dry top with floating ball

The ball rises and seals the tube the moment it goes under, so a wave over the top does not flood the mask.

Leak-proof silicone skirt

Seals around the whole face rather than just nose and eyes, held by an adjustable head strap.

Product description

About this product

A full-face snorkel mask replaces the mask-plus-mouthpiece arrangement with a single unit covering the whole face. You breathe through your nose and mouth exactly as you do on land. For a large number of people – children old enough to be trusted with it, nervous first-timers, anyone who has tried a mouthpiece and hated it – this is the difference between snorkelling and not snorkelling.

Fogging is the thing every full-face mask has to solve, and it is solved with separated channels. Air comes in down one side of the snorkel and passes across the inside of the lens before it reaches your nose – which both keeps the glass clear and means you never re-breathe your own exhaled air. The breath you push out leaves by a different route entirely. A single-channel full-face mask fogs within minutes and leaves you breathing stale air, which is why the design detail matters.

The dry top is a float in the head of the snorkel. Under a wave or a duck of the head it rises and seals the opening; when the top clears, it drops and you breathe normally. There is also a drain at the chin for anything that does get past the face seal.

Use it on the surface. A full-face mask is not built for diving down – you cannot equalise the whole air space properly against pressure, and you cannot clear it underwater the way you can a conventional mask. Swim face down on the surface, look at the reef below, and if you want to dive to it, take a separate mask and snorkel.

Fit is the other rule. A full-face mask only works if the skirt seals all the way around, so check the size against your face, keep hair out from under the rim, and be aware that a full beard along the jaw will break the seal.

Buying a Full Face Snorkel Mask in Dar es Salaam

361 Degrees Adventure keeps the full face snorkel mask at our showroom in Upanga, Dar es Salaam, with delivery countrywide across Tanzania. Come and handle it before you buy, or order online and collect.

Every full face snorkel mask is checked in store before it leaves us, and our staff use the same kit in the field, so you get an honest answer on fit and sizing rather than a sales pitch.

Not sure which full face snorkel mask suits you? Call or message the showroom and we will talk you through the options that are actually in stock in Tanzania.

Spare parts and replacements for the full face snorkel mask are easier to get here than on an overseas order, which matters once the gear is in use.

Questions

Good to know

Can I dive down with it?

No. It is a surface snorkelling mask. The air space cannot be equalised properly at depth and it cannot be cleared underwater. Duck-diving to the reef needs a conventional mask and snorkel.

How do I stop it fogging?

The separated channels do it for you, provided the mask is sealing. If it fogs, warm breath is pooling inside - check the skirt is flat against your skin all the way round with no hair caught under it, and that the strap is even.

Will it fit a child?

Only if you buy a size made for a child-s face. An adult mask on a small face will not seal, and a leaking full-face mask frightens children. Always check the size against the length from the bridge of the nose to the chin.

What if water gets in?

Lift your head, drain it through the chin valve or lift the skirt at the chin to let it out, then reseat the mask. In practice water only gets past a seal that is broken by hair, a strap pulled unevenly, or a beard.

Is it safe?

On the surface, in calm water, with someone else nearby, yes - that is what it is designed for. Do not use one in surf or a strong current, do not dive with it, and never snorkel alone. Full-face masks in particular should not be used by anyone who would struggle to remove it quickly.

Can I wear it with a beard?

A full beard along the jaw will break the seal at the chin and let water in. A moustache under the nose is usually fine, because the seal runs above it and across the forehead.

How do I look after it?

Rinse the whole mask in fresh water after the sea, paying attention to the dry-top valve and the chin drain, and dry it out of direct sun. Salt in a valve is what stops it sealing and UV perishes the silicone skirt.

Do you deliver in Dar es Salaam?

Yes. We deliver across Dar es Salaam and ship nationwide to Arusha, Mwanza, Dodoma, Zanzibar and beyond. You can also collect from our shop.
