Thirty-six retroreflective adhesive strips from PSLER, in red, yellow and silver, for applying to a bike frame, rims, helmet or bags.
Retroreflective material works differently from something merely bright. Its surface is built from tiny corner-cube or glass-bead structures that send light back towards wherever it came from, rather than scattering it. That means a driver’s own headlights return to the driver’s own eyes – which is exactly the geometry you want, and why a strip of reflective tape can be more effective at night than a light of the same visual size.
It also means reflective material does nothing without a light source. It complements lights; it does not replace them.
Where to put them matters more than how many you use. Reflectors on moving parts – wheel rims, crank arms, pedals, ankles – are far more effective than static ones, because the human eye is extremely good at spotting a moving light. A driver may not register a reflective triangle, but a rotating circle of light reads unmistakably as a bicycle. Put strips on both rims first, then the frame.
Apply them to a clean, dry surface. Wipe the area with alcohol or a degreaser, let it dry fully, then press the strip down firmly and leave it a day before washing the bike.
