Product description

About this product

Ultralight Sleeping Bag – in stock at 361 Degrees Adventure in Tanzania.

An envelope bag light enough to carry all day and honest enough to publish EN figures rather than a single marketing number. Comfortable at 15 °C with a lower limit of 8 °C, which in Tanzania covers everything from the coast to a night on the Usambara slopes – it is a warm-weather bag, not a Kilimanjaro bag.

The shell is 20D 380T nylon and the lining is 240T polyester pongee, smooth against skin. It unzips completely and lies flat as a quilt, and it stuffs into a compression sack about the size of a 1.5-litre bottle.

Key Features

  • 680 g in size M – light enough for hiking, cycling and paddling trips
  • Full EN rating: comfort 15 °C, lower limit 8 °C
  • 20D 380T nylon shell over a 240T polyester pongee lining
  • Opens flat as a quilt, or zips to another bag of the same model
  • Two sizes – the XL adds 15 cm of length and 10 cm of width
  • Compression sack included

Who It Suits

  • Warm-weather camping on the coast and in the parks, where a thick bag is unbearable
  • Hikers and cyclists counting grams and pack space
  • A summer-weight layer to pair with a liner or a heavier bag on cold nights
  • Anyone who sleeps hot and wants the option of using it open, as a quilt

Buying a Ultralight Sleeping Bag in Tanzania

361 Degrees Adventure keeps the ultralight sleeping bag at our showroom in Upanga, Dar es Salaam, with delivery countrywide across Tanzania. Come and handle it before you buy, or order online and collect.

Every ultralight sleeping bag is checked in store before it leaves us, and our staff use the same kit in the field, so you get an honest answer on fit and sizing rather than a sales pitch.

Not sure which ultralight sleeping bag suits you? Call or message the showroom and we will talk you through the options that are actually in stock in Dar es Salaam.

Spare parts and replacements for the ultralight sleeping bag are easier to get here than on an overseas order, which matters once the gear is in use.

Questions

Good to know

Is this warm enough for Tanzania?

For almost everywhere people camp here, yes. Comfort 15 °C covers coastal nights, Mikumi, Ruaha and Saadani year round. It is not enough for Kilimanjaro above the forest, Ngorongoro rim nights or the Southern Highlands in June and July - take a heavier bag or add our liner.

What does the EN rating actually mean?

Comfort 15 °C is the temperature at which an average adult woman sleeps comfortably; the 8 °C lower limit is where an average adult man sleeps curled up without waking cold. Those are laboratory figures on a mat, so treat them as a guide.

Which size should I take?

The M at 190 x 75 cm suits most adults up to about 180 cm. The XL is 205 x 85 cm for taller people or anyone who dislikes a snug bag, and costs 80 g more.

Can it be used as a blanket?

Yes. The zip opens all the way round so it lies flat as a quilt, which is how most people use it in hot weather.

Can two be joined?

Yes - two bags of the same model zip together into a double.

How do I wash it?

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent, no fabric softener, and dry it fully before storing. Store it loose rather than compressed - years in a stuff sack flattens any fill.

Does it handle damp?

The nylon shell sheds light condensation and the hollow cotton fill keeps insulating when damp, which is where synthetic beats down in a humid climate like ours.
