About this product

Naturehike build this one to be three things. Pull the head out and a translucent resin shade slides up, turning a focused torch into a 360 degree lantern. Hang it from the detachable stainless steel hook and it is a tent lamp. Push it back down and it is a pocket flashlight again.

It is 13.5 cm long, 4 cm across and 50 g without batteries, which is about the weight of two AA cells. A three-stage switch cycles high, low and SOS. It runs on 3 x AAA batteries, which is deliberate: no charging, no dead lithium cell after a year in a drawer, and you can buy replacements anywhere in Tanzania.

The body is ABS engineering plastic and the threads are cut properly, so the zoom mechanism does not go gritty after a season. We stock it in blue; Naturehike also make it in red and orange.

This is the one to keep in the glovebox, the daypack or the kitchen drawer for power cuts. It is not a high-output torch – it is a genuinely useful little light that always works.

Good to know

How does the zoom work?

The head slides out along a threaded barrel, lifting a translucent resin shade over the LED. Closed, the light is a focused beam; open, it scatters through the shade as a 360 degree lantern. There is no lens to lose and no separate parts.

Why batteries rather than rechargeable?

Because it always works. A rechargeable light left in a drawer for a year is flat when you need it; three AAA cells are not. For an emergency and glovebox light that is the right trade.

Are batteries included?

No. It takes 3 x AAA, which we also stock.

How bright is it?

Up to 130 lumens. That is right for reading in a tent, finding something in a boot or walking to the ablution block, not for lighting a whole campsite. For that look at the Naturehike floodlight or the Moonlight Plus.

Is it waterproof?

No rating is published and Naturehike do not claim one. Treat it as splash resistant: light rain and damp are fine, immersion is not.

Can I hang it in a tent?

Yes, that is what the stainless steel hook is for. It clips to a tent ceiling loop and unclips when you want the torch on its own.
