Highlights

Light and a breeze from one hook

An 18-LED ring around a tilting tent fan, running on D cells.

Light, fan, or both

Two independent switches. Run the fan alone at night, the light alone in the evening, or both together.

18 bright white LEDs

A full ring around the fan housing, so the light spreads rather than spotlighting one patch.

Tilting head

The fan swivels on its yoke to aim the airflow where you are sleeping.

D cells, not lithium

Nothing to charge and nothing to go flat in storage. Swap in fresh cells and it works.

Product description

About this product

Camping Fan LED Lamp – in stock at 361 Degrees Adventure in Tanzania.

Hang this from the tent ceiling and you get light and a breeze from the same hook. A ring of 18 bright white LEDs surrounds a downward-facing fan, and the head tilts on a yoke so you can aim the airflow at the sleeping area rather than straight down the middle.

Light and fan switch independently – light on its own, fan on its own, or both together. The fan has two speeds. A folding handle on top doubles as the hanging hook, and it stands on a table just as happily as it hangs.

It runs on 2 D-cell batteries rather than a built-in lithium pack, which is the right choice for a tent fan: no charging, nothing to go flat in storage, and D cells are cheap and available everywhere. On this class of unit you can expect roughly 37 hours of light on its own, around 50 hours of fan on low or 30 on high, and about 16 hours with both running together on the low fan setting.

ABS body, 16.7 x 18.4 cm. Batteries are not included.

For hot, still nights in a tent in Dar or on the coast, a moving-air fan does more for sleep than any amount of extra ventilation mesh.

Questions

Good to know

Can the fan and the light run at the same time?

Yes, they are on separate switches. Expect around 16 hours from a set of D cells with both running and the fan on low - running the fan flat out with the light on will use them faster.

Are the batteries included?

No. It takes 2 x D cells, which we stock. D cells are worth buying good quality here because the fan draws steadily all night.

How strong is the fan?

It is a tent fan, not an air conditioner. It moves enough air over a sleeping bag to make a hot, still night comfortable. Hang it low and aim it at the sleeping area for the most benefit.

Can it stand on a table?

Yes. The handle folds down and the base is flat, so it works standing as well as hanging.

Is it noisy?

Low speed is quiet enough to sleep under. High speed is noticeably louder - most people run it on high to cool the tent down, then drop to low overnight.

Is it waterproof?

No. It is a tent interior fan and lamp. Keep it inside and dry.
